Why guests pick Alvor Bay.
Alvor is the Algarve as the locals keep it: a wide bay protected from the open Atlantic, with shallow water that turns turquoise on a clear afternoon. We anchor over sand for a long swim, and on lower tides walk the sandbar that emerges off the dunes. The 7-hour version pairs Alvor with the cliff stretch toward Lagos.
Routes are decided on the morning of the charter. If conditions favour Alvor Bay, the captain reads the wind at the marina and shapes the day around what the sea is doing — never around a fixed schedule.
What you do
- Anchor over the Alvor sand flats — flat, shallow, turquoise
- Walk the emerging sandbar at low tide (seasonal)
- Swim away from the main beaches with the boat to yourselves
- Long lunch on the flybridge
- On the 7-hour day, push west toward the Lagos cliffs
